The order states that the businesses and services listed as essential during the emergency shall require persons to wear a mask when inside of the establishment.

Under the revised COVID-19 Emergency Measures issued by the Government and gazetted, citizens are now required to wear face masks when entering business places and the premises of other essential service providers.

The order states that the businesses and services listed as essential during the emergency shall require persons to wear a mask when inside of the establishment.

Essential services are also required to ensure staff members and customers and other persons maintain a distance of six feet from each other in and outside of the establishment. Operators and passengers in vehicles are also required to wear the masks.

The list of essential services includes government offices, security and law enforcement agencies, supermarkets and markets, banks and gas stations.

It has been widened to include a number of government and other services including media, shipping and port services and mining services.

Last week, while encouraging citizens to stay home and only leave their homes if absolutely necessary, the Ministry of Public Health started to encourage to persons to always wear a mask once they are venturing out of their homes.

Guyana has recorded 40 confirmed cases of the coronavirus with six deaths.
