Police investigators believe they will be able to crack the case of the murdered teacher and file criminal charges as early as this week.

Twenty-two year old, high school teacher, Kescia Branche, was found in an unconscious state last Sunday morning in Le Repentir cemetery close to Princes Street and Louisa Row. She was taken to a city hospital, but passed away two days later.

Acting Crime Chief, Asst. Commissioner Paul Williams,  told News Source that investigators spent the weekend interrogating the three suspects who remain in custody. Among the three suspects is the ex-boyfriend of the teacher. Two police ranks, who were seen leaving a Lamaha Street nightclub with he woman, are the other two persons being grilled.

Asst. Commissioner Williams said he is confident that investigators will solve the case. He noted that eyewitnesses are being interviewed and one other eyewitness, who is expected to be interviewed soon, could assist in closing the case file.

“Once we speak to this other witness, we will move ahead with the case”, he told News Source.

A post-mortem examination was completed on the woman on Friday. The cause of death was given as brain hemorrhage and blunt trauma to the head. Investigators believe the injuries are consistent with a sudden hit to the head, that could have been caused by her being thrown from a vehicle or being overrun by a vehicle. The woman, according to relatives, also suffered a number of broken limbs.

Branche was seen earlier last Saturday night at the Blue Martini nightclub on Lamaha Street. Eyewitnesses recalled seeing her leaving the club at the back of a motorcycle that was being ridden by a uniformed policeman.

Another policeman was seen riding alongside. The three were later spotted at the Grill Kings BBQ hangout spot on Mandela Avenue. However, she was only seen leaving the area with one of the two policemen, who reportedly was spotted returning to the same BBQ spot not too long after. There are conflicting reports as to where he may dropped her off.

Investigators have also been probing the woman’s phone records and looking at calls and text messages that she may have been sending in the hours leading up to her unconscious body being found. The ex-boyfriend, who is also the father of her young child, is believed to have been one of the persons she was in contact with hours before she was found almost lifeless.

The case is one that has been haunting the country over the past week with scores of persons expressing their shock over the incident on social media.

The young woman’s father, told News Source that the family is still trying to be strong, even in the tough circumstances.
