Less than two weeks after a Roraima Airways plane crashed and killed the pilot while preparing to land at Eteringbang, a small cessna aircraft belonging to local company, Wings Aviation, crashed just as it was taking off from the same airstrip today.

The incident occurred around midmorning.  Manager at Wings Aviation, Carl Bowen, confirmed the incident to News Source.

He said there were no fatalities. The pilot was the only person on board the cessna aircraft bearing registration number 8R-GPR.

The pilot managed to escape without any serious injuries.

Mr. Bowen said the airline will release more detailed once it becomes available.  The small aircraft was being piloted by Doninique Waddell.

Wings Aviation, which falls under the same company that owns Fly Jamaica Airways, operates several flights daily to various parts of the interior and all across Guyana.

Officials from the airline and and the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority are expected to probe the incident.
