Police following several leads in Linden ambush execution

Police investigators in Linden are continuing their probe of the Saturday night gunning down of a 23-year-old man from Roxanne Burnham Gardens Georgetown at Sunflower Street in Wismar, Linden.

The dead youth was identified as Delron McKenzie. His friend, Calvin Daly was injured in the attack.

The friend told investigators that he accompanied McKenzie to Linden late on Saturday afternoon to visit a young lady in the community.

The man relayed that they arrived in the community at around 9pm and after receiving directions from the young woman they were going to visit, they crossed the river and headed to the Wismar shore where the young woman provided them with further directions to get to her home.

The survivor told investigators that they received another call from the young woman who told them that they should look for a grey car that she had sent to pick them up.  As the two young men approached the car, two men emerged from it and opened fire.

Delron McKenzie was shot dead, while the friend who was walking behind received wounds to his arms and managed to run from the scene seeking help as the killers sped away.

Investigators were told that they were three men in the car who are still to be identified. Police are working on a number of leads.

The survivor of the ambush said he does not know anything about the young woman who lured his now dead friend to the town, he was simply asked to accompany him.  The probe is ongoing.
