Police seek more victims in visa fraud case

The Guyana Police is asking for more persons who may have been defrauded by a city businessman in the hopes of being granted a U.S visa to come forward and provide investigators with details, as they build a case against the man.

The businessman, Ganraj Raghubeer who operated a visa and passport application agency under the name Creative Concepts in Garnett Street, Kitty was recently charged in a visa fraud case.

He allegedly collected money from several persons, promising them that he would ensure they are granted US visas. Police investigators reported that the man even forged a document and issued it as a US visa to one unsuspecting “applicant”.

The woman may have only realized that she had been duped when she was getting ready to leave the country.

There are reports that a number of persons may have paid the businessman hundreds of thousands of dollars after his guarantee that they would be granted a U.S visa.

All US visa applications are handled by the local embassy.

Internet cafés are only expected to offer assistance to persons in need of help for the completion of their application forms. That assistance has no bearing on the outcome of the application.
