President Ali leaves for Coronation of King Charles

President Irfaan Ali is leading a Guyana Government delegation to the coronation of British monarch, King Charles III.

In a brief statement, the President’s office announced his departure this morning and explained that he will be among Heads of Government attending the event on Saturday in the United Kingdom.

While in London, President Ali is expected to engage global leaders, business leaders and members of the Guyanese diaspora.

The President met King Charles last year, while he was still Prince. He was elevated to the throne, following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Guyana is a former British colony, which gained its independence in 1966 and moved on to Republic status, four years later.
