The increases, which were announced on Monday night in a national broadcast, will take effect from the 1st January and will be in addition to the recently announced 8% salary increase for public servants.

The President has announced major salary adjustments for several categories of healthcare workers that will see increases to their salaries ranging from 13% to 74%.

The increases, which were announced on Monday night in a national broadcast, will take effect from the 1st January and will be in addition to the recently announced 8% salary increase for public servants.

Medical interns will see increases to their salaries by 32.1%. They will now earn $200,000 per month.

Medical Officers at various levels will see various increases. New medical officers will see their salaries being adjusted by 36.4%, resulting in a new salary of $300,000.

“Medical Officers who have completed one year of post-employment experience (for example, a second year GMO) will now have their current minimum salary adjusted to $351,204 in line with the current practice at the GPHC. Medical Officers who have completed two years of post-employment experience (example, a third year GMO) will now have their current minimum salary adjusted to $414,032 in line with the current practice at the GPHC. Medical Officers who have completed three years of post-employment experience (example., a fourth-year GMO) will now have their current minimum salary adjusted to $446,160 in line with the current practice at the GPHC”, the President announced.

Specialist Doctors will now have their minimum salaries adjusted upwards from $276,536 to $450,000.

In the field of nursing, Nurse Aides and Patient Care Assistants will see their salaries jump by 23.6% in the new year, while Nursing Assistants will get a 29.9% increase to their salaries and Nurse Midwives will see a 74.4% boost to their salaries.

Staff nurses and Staff nurse midwives will see increases to their salaries by more than 50%.

It was also announced by the President that Pharmacy Assistants will now $100,000 per month, representing an 18.1% increase while Dental Aides and (Laboratory) Aides will see a 23.6% increase to their salaries.

The salaries for Community Health workers will be increased by 13%, resulting in a new salary of $100,000, while Medexes will earn $200,000 per month and that represents a 31.2% increase.

Pharmacists will see their salaries going up by 68%. Their new monthly salary will now stand at just over $215,000 per month.

The President said the salary adjustments will benefit over 5,000 healthcare workers and he hopes that the increases will see improved work and customer service by the healthcare professionals.

Two weeks ago, the President announced salary adjustments for some categories of workers in the Police Force, the GDF and the Fire Service.

He hinted that other adjustments for various groups of public servants will be announced soon.
