President Irfaan Ali is departing Guyana this evening for the United Nations General Assembly and a series of other engagements over the next week.

During the visit to the US, President Ali will be part of a Caribbean team that will engage with US Vice President Kamala Harris.

The meeting is a follow-up to President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris’ commitment at the recent Summit of the Americas to partner with the Caribbean to promote energy security, access to finance, and food security.

The President is also slated to meet with members of the Guyanese diaspora in New York, Florida and Washington during a number of engagements.

At the United Nations in New York, he will make his second in-person appearance at the General Assembly.

President Ali will be joined by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hugh Todd and Foreign Secretary Robert Persaud.
