President to press UN to ensure speedy resolution of Guyana’s border controversy with Venezuela

President David Granger is getting ready to head to the United Nations General Assembly in New York next week and he intends to push the UN and World Leaders to ensure a speedy resolution to Guyana’s ongoing border controversy with Venezuela.

Foreign Affairs Minister, Carl Greenidge has announced that the President will also be addressing issues pertaining to the greening of Guyana.

Additionally, Mr. Granger is expected to touch on the problems of global governance, the issues pertaining to how the small and the voiceless can be given the opportunity to have their messages heard, and to have the UN act in a manner that is consistent with their interests.

At last year’s general assembly, President Granger and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro met together with the UN Secretary General on the border issue.

The meeting led to a special investigation team being set up by the un secretary general. The team has visited both Guyana and Venezuela.

  Guyana continues to push for a juridical settlement to bring an end to all the controversy to the border matter which was settled decades ago.
