President’s office rubbishes Nandlall’s “fictional” claim of plan to remove GECOM Chair

The Ministry of the Presidency this afternoon rubbished claims by PPP Executive Member Anil Nandlall that there is a plan by the President to remove the Chairman of GECOM.

In a statement this afternoon, the President’s office described the claims by Mr. Nandlall as wicked and highly outrageous.

According to the statement, Nandlall’s accusations are dishonest, malevolent, and dangerous and based on spurious and unsubstantiated fiction.

The President’s Office said the statement by the senior PPP Official is aimed at creating panic and confusion amongst the citizenry and the office calls for the statement to be rejected completedly and for Nandlall to be condemned for his efforts to instigate fear and confusion.

According to the President’s Office, President Granger has repeatedly said and demonstrated that he respects the integrity and autonomy of the Elections Commission and that he would abide by any declaration that the Chairman makes in keeping with the laws of Guyana.

The Ministry of the Presidency issued a call on Mr. Nandlall to retract what it called “his baseless and irresponsible assertions”. Nandlall in response said he is standing by his story.
