Protests erupt again in West Berbice

Upset with the pace of the investigations into the gruesome murders of teen cousins, Joel and Isaiah Henry, a group of West Berbice residents blocked roads and set fire to tyres this morning.

The road blockage in #5 village West Coast Berbice, resulted in vehicles being forced to seek new routes and others turning back.

The Police Public Relations Office has indicated that Police are on the ground dealing with the situation.

Today marks one month since the mutilated bodies of the teenagers were found in the Cotton Tree backdam. No charges have been filed in the matter but a number of persons were questioned and later released.

A team of investigators from the Regional Security System arrived in Guyana last week to assist local Police in the investigations. Already samples and other evidence have been sent to St. Lucia for detailed analysis.

Guyana is also seeking the help of Argentine investigative experts.

Investigations are also ongoing into the death of 17-year-old Haresh Singh, whose lifeless body was found in the backdam of #3 village on the same day that post mortem examinations were being done on the bodies of the cousins.

Singh was last seen alive the same morning and his body was found with a wound to his head

One of his relatives was among the persons being questioned about the Henry cousins murder.
