Almost a month after it was denied a local content certificate to operate in the oil and gas sector in Guyana, RAMPS Logistics has resubmitted its application with additional documents that were requested by the Local Content Secretariat.

In a statement, the company said it resubmitted the application on Thursday, while thanking the officials at the Local Content Secretariat for responding to the company’s request and outlining the additional information needed to meet the requirement for entry into the Local Content Registry.

The Local Content Secretariat has not indicated a timeline for a decision on the company’s application.

Back in June, RAMPS Logitics which is originally from Trinidad and Tobago but now has a Guyanese as its majority shareholder, was left stunned by the decision to not issue the company the local content certificate.

Without a local content certificate, RAMPS would be unable to operate in the oil and gas sector.  It is the largest logistics contractor for the sector and has several contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars with the oil company.

Following the initial decision by the Local Content Secretariat, the Secretariat defended its decision and explained that the company had failed to meet all of the requirements.
