There are reports that the Government has opted to part ways with Permanent Secretary in the Department of Public Service, Reginald Brotherson, now that he has reached the age for retirement.

A senior government source has confirmed the move.

News Source understands that the decision may have been made by the President himself. The Department of Public Service falls under the Ministry of the Presidency.

He was appointed to the position just after the coalition government took office in 2015. He had previously served under the PPP government as a Permanent Secretary also.

Senior sources within the government have indicated to News Source that they are not surprised over the decision not to renew Brotherson’s tenure since there was the concern that too many issues were not being addressed in the public service system that fell directly under his watch.

News Source understands that the work record of a number of other Permanent Secretaries and Deputy Permanent Secretaries are also being examined as other changes could come.
