The Regional Executive Officer for Region 9, Karl Singh, remains in Police custody over the shooting of a woman in his car.

Singh is accused of shooting the woman to her abdomen around midnight on Tuesday in the Lethem business district. The woman has been hospitalised in a serious condition.

Details of the shooting incident are sketchy but Singh’s firearm has been taken away from him while the probe is ongoing.

Investigators will attempt to interview the victim once she gets clearance from the doctors.

The 33-year-old REO was appointed to the post just after the change in government.
