Remand prisoner stabbed to death during fight over weapon at Lusignan jail

According to a Police report, 23-year-old Eijad Mohamed Ali was accused by three other prisoners of stealing an improvised weapon. Ali was relieved of the weapon and a fight started between him and one of the three prisoners.

A prisoner who was on remand on a simple larceny charge was stabbed to death at the Lusignan Prison on Sunday during a fight with other prisoners over an improvised weapon.

According to a Police report, 23-year-old Eijad Mohamed Ali was accused by three other prisoners of stealing an improvised weapon. Ali was relieved of the weapon and a fight started between him and one of the three prisoners.

It was during that fight, he was stabbed repeatedly to his abdomen.

He was rushed to the Georgetown Hospital where he died while being treated.

The three prisoners who were involved in the confrontation have since been separated from the general population and could face charges in relation to the murder.
