RK Security guard shot as bandits attack and rob money transport car

Two guards from RK Secuirty Service were held at gunpoint and one of them was shot on Sunday afternoon in Georgetown as bandits relieved them of a bag of money that was being transported to the bank.

According to reports, the guards were held up at Middle and East Streets by three armed men who were on motor cycles.

The guards were also reportedly armed but did not get a chance to use their weapons as the attack came as a surprise.

The men reportedly rode up on the motor cycles alongside the car that the money was being transported in and demanded the cash.

The guards had just uplifted the money from the Balwant Singh Hospital, located on East Street.

‘A’ Division Commander Clifton Hicken confirmed the robbery but could not provide details on the sum of money stolen.

The guards were not relieved of their firearm and it is unclear whether they returned fire as the bandits made their escape.

An investigation is under-way.
