Rohee blasts Nagamootoo and Ramkarran as sourpusses for criticizing Jagdeo

General Secretary of the opposition People’s Progressive Party, Clement Rohee has lashed out at two former members of the Party in wake of their criticism of Opposition Leader, Bharrat Jagdeo following his accusations of racial discrimination in Guyana.

Rohee slammed Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo and former House Speaker Ralph Ramkarran, at a press conference on Wednesday, for offering what he called “their assessment” of the Opposition Leader’s comments which pointed to a racial agenda being pushed by the PPP.  The Prime Minister has not offered any official comment on the Jagdeo statement.

Rohee may have been referring to a Government of Guyana statement.

But Rohee said the two former PPP members are both “sourpusses” that lacked credibility. He said too that they were practicing vengeance politics against the PPP for not securing the presidential candidacy.

“Vengeance politics will get neither of them anywhere because this is exactly what they are practicing,” Rohee said.

The Government of Guyana was among the first to respond to Jagdeo’s comments and described the comments as race baiting, while Mr. Ramkarran in a weekend blog, said the comments have revealed the PPP’s new agenda as an ethnic party.

But Rohee does not agree with the assessment and continues to support Jagdeo’s contention. He said Ramkarran and Nagamootoo are sullen towards the PPP because they did not succeed in “hoodwinking” the leadership to become the presidential candidates.

Rohee said Nagamootoo has sought revenge in the government while Ramkarran has gone to the media. “Both sides are serving self interest,” he added.

According to Rohee, the Prime Minister and the former Speaker are two peas in a pod and do not have any credibility to make any analysis of the PPP although they both severed several decades within the party and rose to the highest level.

“In my own view, in the case of Ramkarran he is either living in a bubble, a cocoon or a fools paradise,” Rohee said as he dismissed Ramkarran’s views while reminded the press conference of statements he made several years ago concerning Nagamootoo’s skeletons in his closet.
