The man who was behind the steering wheel of that route 44 mini-bus that crashed on Sunday claiming the lives of two women, has been charged in connection with the deaths.

The driver, Denzil Clarke was remanded to jail today for causing the death of two women by his dangerous driving.

The accused appeared before Magistrate Alicia George and denied the allegations made against him.

The Court was told that his dangerous driving was responsible for the death of Bourda market vendors, Denise Culley and Patricia Ellis.

It is alleged that on the 3rd March, 2019 while being behind the wheels of mini-bus BTT 4910 traversing the Success public Road, Clarke drove in a manner that was dangerous to the public.

He was reportedly speeding along the newly paved roadway at the time, when he lost control of the bus and slammed into the road median. The impact of the crash, resulted in passengers being pitched through the windows of the bus and onto the roadway.

Five other persons sustained injuries and remain hospitalised.

The Police Prosecutor objected to bail because of the loss of life. The Magistrate agreed and remanded the driver to prison until later this month when the case will come up again.
