Sean Hinds claims he was hired to kill Ronald Waddell but 2 police officers beat him to the trigger

Self confessed former member of a death squad, Sean Hinds believes the Guyana Police Force may need to look among some of its former and retired officers if it wants to solve the murder of talk show host and political activist Ronald Waddell.

Waddell was killed in a hail of gunfire in front of his Bel Air home on January 30, 2006. No one was ever charged for his murder which has haunted the country as one of the most notorious cold cases.

In his interview with the HGP Nightly News, Sean Hinds now claims that he was hired to carry out “the hit”, but as he was preparing to execute the talk show host, two members of the Guyana Police Force who were linked to the black clothes squad, appeared and executed the talk show host before he got the chance to.

“When I deh pun the seawalls looking out for the man, cause I tell them I on the seawalls. They operate like Special Branch. When you feel is you alone get a job, other people got um too. So when I deh on the seawalls sit down in me car..I get a call saying hey, the man coming. By the time the man come out the yard, the man aint went home you know. The man ain’t come from the road. He went in he house and as he come out he yard, a car swing Sherriff Street, a blue 212 swing from Sheriff Street and all I hear is dududududut (gunshots) and I pull down in me car”, Hinds recounted.

Though he never explains who hired him as the contract killer, he claims that his version of events could be corroborated with video and other pieces of information.

He identified the two men who killed Waddell as a now retired Assistant Commissioner of Police and another police officer.

The retired Assistant Police Commissioner has been fingered in a number of other high-profile killings and has been named as being involved in the US visa fraud and the death squad that haunted Guyana after the 2002 jailbreak.

He had also commanded the Target Special Squad of the Guyana Police Force at a time when that unit was named in extra judicial killings and several police abuses.

Executed Talk Show host, Ronald Waddell

Ronald Waddell was a very outspoken talk show host and political activist. He used his talk show on HBTV Channel 9 to raise concerns about the state of Guyana under the PPP Civic government during the Jagdeo Presidency.

It has always been believed that Waddell was silenced over his views and his public criticism of the government at the time.

The self-confessed death squad member Sean Hinds gave the interview to HGP Nightly News out of concern that he was being targeted by the police to face charges for the March 2015 murder of political activist, Courtney Crum-Ewing, who was also a strong opposition voice against the PPP administration.

Hinds has distanced himself from the Crum-Ewing murder but has been pointing fingers to two PPP activists who he is convinced ordered and paid for the hit.

The Guyana Police Force earlier today said Sean Hinds is wanted for questioning in connection to a serious offense but not the Crum-Ewing murder.
