Sean Hinds denies involvement in Crum-Ewing’s murder but admits being part of former death squad

In a startling admission, long suspected death squad member Sean Hinds admitted in a tv interview that he was indeed part of a death squad that hunted down and killed wanted men during the crime spree following the 2002 jailbreak. However, he has denied any involvement in the execution of political activist, Courtney Crum-Ewing.

The police are currently questioning another man in connection with Crum-Ewing’s murder.

In an excerpt of the interview with the HGP Nightly News’ Travis Chase, Hinds explained that he became a member of the death squad and received directions from the late Axel Williams who was also reportedly a member of the same death squad.

Williams was gunned down back in 2003 in Bel Air. Phone records revealed that a number belonging to Axel Williams was repeatedly in contact with a number that belonged to the Minister of Home Affairs at the time, Ronald Gajraj.

Gajraj was forced to resign from his position in the PPP government as evidence mounted that he was aware of the operations of a death squad.

Hinds told Travis Chase that he was aware and involved in the activities of the death squad. He said “years ago they said I was part of a killing squad. I can’t deny that. I can’t sit here and deny that…If I wasn’t a part of a killing squad this country wouldn’t a got law and order because there was Shawn Brown, Dale Moore and Chip Teeth…there was a phantom and death squad”.

He explained that there was a difference between the death squad and the phantom squad. The phantom squad was fingered in the disappearance and murder of a number of young men during the same 2002/2003 period.

“I was on a death squad. The boss was a man named Axel Williams who I worked under. Late at night you would see people burn up people in car on the seawall and we used to go after these people including the police! Not we alone..the police was part of it! We used to get guns from the police ..I used to go uplift a gun from CID headquarters, a machine gun so this thing was not no one sided affair ..where I’m operating on my own army and Axel Williams operating upon he own ..We was guided and in communication with senior people from CID headquarters”

Asked by Chase whether members of the former government were involved in the operations of the squad, Hinds brushed the question aside and said his orders came from the Criminal Investigations Department of the Police Force.

“I can tell you this, all my orders came from CID headquarters and there is evidence to this day. I have communication with me and people communicating saying what need to be done and how it need to be done what guns to be used and what must be done and how you must do it and don’t leave this in the streets. And when the shit hit the fan I alone get charged.”

Hinds was charged for the murder of Shafeek Bacchus whose brother George Bacchus was also gunned down in a hail of gunfire as he began to tell his story to the media. Bacchus had made revelations of his own about the death squad and named a number of persons including Sean Hinds as being members. The case against Hinds eventually fell apart.

The Guyana Police Force has always denied any involvement with any death squad. News Source understands that Hinds may have decided to come forward with his admissions because he is being fingered as one of the persons who may have been responsible for the death of political activist, Courtney Crum-Ewing. He has reportedly denied any involvement in that execution.

The full interview is expected to be aired on tonight’s edition of the HGP Nightly News.
