Security Officer arrested in Princess Casino robbery probe

A security guard who ended his duty at the Ramada Princess Casino just three hours before the business place was stormed by gunmen, has been arrested by the Police as they continue their probe into the early Friday morning robbery.

Police investigators believe that the security officer was the mastermind of the robbery and may have been the one who pulled the team together to carry out the robbery.

According to a senior investigator familiar with the probe, it is suspected that the security officer provided the gunmen with all of the security lay out and details about the casino. Investigators believe there may have also been several rehearsals.

Five persons including employees of the casino, were shot when the gunmen barged into the casino just before 4 o’ clock on Friday morning and demanded money from the cashiers and gamblers. An undisclosed amount of foreign currency was carted off from the scene by the gunmen.

One of the gunmen who had relieved a security guard of his service weapon, remains in custody. He was cornered in a room at the casino and later arrested by the police. They found him with the security guard’s shotgun and a quantity of money.  Investigators expect him to provide them with more information about his counterparts.

The robbery has forced the Casino and Hotel to increase its security system as it gets ready to welcome scores of guests within the coming weeks.

Charges against the two men currently in custody could come early this week.
