Guyana has recorded six new cases of the coronavirus but has also recorded six new recoveries, according to the latest figures released on Sunday.
The country currently has a total of 126 active cases. The total recoveries have now climbed to 154. 17 persons have lost their lives to the disease in Guyana.
Although the recovery rate is good, health officials are still concerned about the spread of the disease especially in the interior regions.
Region 1 has more than 70% of the current cases and health officials in that region have been stepping up efforts to ensure residents are better informed about the disease and understand that it really exists.
Some residents in that region have been ignoring the guidelines by the health officials, with some even questioning the existence of the disease.
