Police are on the hunt for a Sixteen-year-old who escaped from the Juvenile Holding Centre in Sophia.

The youth reportedly escaped six days ago, on August 9.

The Ministry of Public Security in a statement has identified him as Leon Patterson, who is of African descent.

He was discovered missing from the facility on August 9th 2018, when his mother went to visit him.

According to the Public Security Ministry, an instant search of the premises and surrounding areas was made but the youth could not be located.

When security video recordings were examined, the youth was seen exiting the admin building through the back door and making good his escape, while another detainee was emptying garbage.

A search of the nearby areas in Sophia was immediately launched but turned up futile.

The Ministry is asking that anyone with knowledge about Sixteen-year-old Leon Patterson to contact the nearest Police Station.

The authorities have not released a photograph of the teen and have also not stated what crime he may have committed that landed him at the detention centre.
