Soldiers injured in early morning East Bank accident

At least 18 soldiers attached to the Guyana Defence Force were injured on Thursday morning as a result of a collision between their bus and a sand truck.

The accident took place at Garden of Eden just after heavy rainfall. At least three of the soldiers were seriously injured and taken to the Georgetown Hospital while the others were first taken to the Diamond Hospital.

Reports suggest the bus was heading to the Timehri area when the accident occurred. The truck was reportedly travelling in the other direction.

Police investigators were called to the scene. A probe is underway.
