Ranks from the Narcotics Branch of the Guyana Police Force busted a Surinamese woman late last evening with close to 2 pounds of cocaine strapped to her body.
The woman, whose name has not been released, was an outgoing passenger on Monday when the discovery was made.
During an interview with the woman, it was revealed that she may have also ingested cocaine pellets. She has since been admitted to the Georgetown Hospital and is under police guard.
Drug trafficking charges are expected to be filed against her before the end of the week. Investigators are trying to track down the places where she stayed and the persons she interacted with, during her visit to Guyana.
