Suspect in Durban Street murder dies from poisoning

The plumber who savagely stabbed his lover to death at her Durban Street home has died after ingesting poison.

The man, Lawrence Brummell, was taken to the hospital last night less than an hour after he stabbed Nicola Wilson to death at her home.

At the hospital he complained of feeling unwell after ingesting a poisonous substance.

He passed away this morning.

On Saturday night, Brummel got into an argument with his lover Nicola Wilson at her home and when the woman asked that he leave, the two got into an argument.

Eyewitnesses said the woman was heard asking him to leave repeatedly and pushed him out of the backdoor. The man attacked the woman and repeatedly stabbed her in front of her teenage son as persons in the area raised an alarm.

He drove away from the scene, but later turned up at the hospital where he eventually passed away.
