According to reports, the two men have been identified as Krishna Chand, who was the technician and Antwon (only name provided) who served as the driver.

Tragedy struck late this afternoon inside the compound of the National Stadium at Providence when a young technician and a driver were both electrocuted as they were installing a pole in the compound for the placement of CCTV cameras.

The two men have been identified as 18-year-old Krishna Chand, who was the technician and 36-year-old Oliver Antwon, who worked as the driver.

The two were employed with a private company that has been contracted by the Ministry of Public Security as part of a citywide installation of security cameras.

Reports indicate that the two men were installing the metal pole during the afternoon rainfall when the pole came into contact with a power line and they were both electrocuted.

Both men were wearing protective gear, but reports state that the electricity burned through their gloves and clothes.

At least two other workers attached to the same company were injured as they attempted to offer assistance.

An investigation into the tragedy has been launched.
