A 17-year-old murder accused who escaped from the Juvenile Detention Centre in Sophia three weeks ago has been recaptured and is now back in custody. He could face escape from legal custody charges as he awaits his murder trial.
The teen escapee was nabbed at a house in Bushlot village West Coast Berbice.
Acting on a tip off, a party of police officers went to the area and found the teen hiding in the lower flat of the building.
He was immediately taken into custody without incident.
On the 22nd April, five inmates of the Juvenile Detention Centre escaped. Four of them have since been recaptured. The search is ongoing for the remaining escapee.
