Two men from Norton Street, Georgetown and a third from Campbelville, Georgetown appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McClennan Wednesday afternoon to face robbery charges in connection with the armed robbery of the Bank of Baroda, Mon Repos branch.
The three men appearing in court were 28-year-old Kennard Jabar, 34-year-old Sean Aaron and 39-year-old Ian Campbell.
Jabar and Aaron reside in Norton Street, Georgetown while Campbell’s address was given as Campbellville.
The men were not required to plea to the indictable charges of robbing two tellers of the Bank of Baroda of over $2 million on January 22, 2016 and also robbing the female security guard of her firearm.
They were all refused bail and the case has been transferred to the Vigilance Magistrates’ Court for February 9, 2016.
Jabar and Aaron were both unrepresented.
However, Ian Campbell’s Attorney told the court that his client is a graphic artist, which is the job that he has been doing for over 15 years.
The attorney explained that the young man applies tint to vehicles and makes number plates.
He is the co-owner of the business place where he works. It is believed that he may have provided a number plate for the vehicle suspected to have been used in the robbery.
The attorney told the court that the young man was not close to or in the vicinity of the robbery and played no part in it. Despite his pleadings, bail was still refused.
The three men walked briskly in and out of the courthouse with Jabar leading the way.
Jabar, who told the court that he works in the electronics field by installing car alarms, is no stranger to law enforcement.
He is a former policeman who had appeared before the court in 2013 on illegal gun possession and ammunition charges. At the time, he worked as a driver for an official who was based at the Office of the President under the previous PPP government.
