Three persons from the Berbice area are in the custody of the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit after they were held with more than $11 million worth of marijuana in a speed boat.
The bust took place on Sunday during a CANU maritime operation in Canje, Berbice.
CANU said that during the operation a speed boat with several bulky garbage bags was noticed near the pump station in the #66 village canal.
A search of the boat unearthed more than 85 pounds of marijuana. The three suspects were nabbed in the same area and together with their boat and the marijuana, they were brought to the city and placed in CANU custody.
Drug trafficking charges will be filed against them this week.
