Three to face charges over $6.3 Million marijuana bust

The Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit is continuing its operations to weed out the illegal drug trade in Guyana.  On Tuesday, three men were arrested with $6.3 million worth of marijuana.

CANU said the bust was made as its officers acted on information and conducted the operation in the New Diamond Scheme area.

At the scene, the CANU agents found six parcels of marijuana with a combined weight of over 5.7 kilograms.

The three men who were arrested have been identified as 42-year-old Andrew Carew, 47-year-old Rayanthony Persaud and 37-year-old Sheldon Hope.

The three men are expected in Court before the end of the week on drug trafficking charges.  They will remain in the custody of CANU until that Court hearing.
