Trans Guyana engineers back at work after one day sick-out

A number of aircraft engineers attached to Trans Guyana Airways have resumed duties at their jobs following a one day sick out.

The Ogle based airline was caught off-guard by the strike action on Tuesday. However, officials of the company met on Wednesday with the workers and have worked out most of their differences.

Public Relations Consultant to the company, Kit Nascimento told News Source that all of the workers are back at work and their action stemmed from a variety of issues on the job.

He said negotiations are taking place and the Human Resources Department is now handling the issue and addressing the concerns of the workers.

News Source understands that many of the workers are seeking improved salaries and working conditions. Some have reportedly complained about being in the company’s employ for over a decade and not seeing major improvements in their salaries.

There are also concerns about the style of management being employed by at least one recently hired manager.
