Two accused set free for Laing Avenue execution-style murder; Others still facing charges

Two of the men who were charged with the August 2015 execution-styled murder of Laing Avenue resident, Orin David aka Malik, walked out of the Courtroom as free men today after City Magistrate, Dylon Bess, ruled that a sufficient case had not been made out against the two.

The two, Samuel McIntyre and Regus Lamazon, had the murder charge against them dismissed.

Magistrate Bess ruled, that while on the day in question, the two men may have inflicted injuries on the man by beating him, the man died of a gunshot wound and none of the evidence offered against the two pointed to any of them being the gunman.

Another man, suspected of being the trigger man, is currently in court for the same murder. His case is ongoing.

With regards to the two who were set free today, the Magistrate told the Court that 12 witnesses were called in the case but none of them were able to identify either of the two accused as being the gunman.

McIntyre and Lamazon were the first two persons charged in connection with the murder, but as the investigation continued, other suspects were arrested and have since been charged.

Family members gathered outside the courthouse were overjoyed with the decision of the Magistrate. The father of one of the accused hugged him, as they left the courtroom together.
