Two Bandits shot dead by Police after robbing guests at Holiday gathering

Two armed bandits were shot dead on Sunday night by Police, moments after they carried out a heartless robbery at a family gathering in the Seaforth Street area in Campbellville.

The incident took place just after 9 o’ clock Sunday night.

Some of the persons who were attacked by the bandits at the family gathering, explained that they were all hanging out in the yard at the get together, when the two armed men appeared at the gate, whipped out their guns and demanded valuables after instructing everyone not to move.

They grabbed cash, jewellery and a quantity of cellphones.

But as they were making their escape by foot, a Police patrol that was in the Sheriff Street area was notified as the robbery victims raised an alarm.

The ranks cornered the two men near the New Campbellville Secondary School compound.

Several gunshots rang out, forcing persons who were nearby to run for cover.

When the gunshots ended, the two men were hauled off  to the Georgetown Hospital with gunshot injuries.

One was pronounced dead on arrival while the other died in the emergency unit. Both men bore multiple gunshot wounds to their bodies.

Their bodies were awaiting identification up to late last night.

Police found a weapon, several cellphones, jewellery and other valuables in the possession of the two men.

Many of the persons at the gathering were left traumatized and shocked by the attack but praised the response and work of the Police.
