Several other passengers were also seriously injured and had to be rushed to the Linden Hospital for treatment.

Two die, others injured in Linden Highway accident

Two persons died on the spot on Friday night following a collision between a minibus and a truck along the Linden/ Soesdyke Highway.

The accident occurred in the vicinity of the Moblissa Bridge.

Several other passengers were also seriously injured and had to be rushed to the Linden Hospital for treatment.

One of the dead persons has been identified as Bridgette Peters of Mahdia.  The other person is still to be identified.

According to reports, the driver of the minibus slammed into the back of the parked truck as he made his way to Linden for its continuing journey to Mahdia.

He reportedly made attempts to swerve but the minibus toppled several times killing two unidentified passengers.

The route 72 minibus was on its way from Mahdia.
