Two gunmen shot dead after stand off with police in South Ruimveldt

The gunshots continued for more than an hour as police officers quickly responded to reports of a robbery and were able to corner the gunmen. As the sunrise came, the gunmen were cornered in an alley way and continued to put up a fight even as more police officers responded.

Two gunmen were shot dead early this morning in the South Ruimveldt area after a more than one hour stand off with police officers.

Gunshots rang out in the Congress Driver area just after 4 o’ clock this morning forcing residents to scamper for cover.

The gunshots continued for more than an hour as police officers quickly responded to reports of a robbery and were able to corner the gunmen. As the sunrise came, the gunmen were cornered in an alley way and continued to put up a fight even as more police officers responded.

By 6 o’ clock the gunshots came to an end and the two gunmen were found with multiple gunshot wounds.  Their identities are unknown at this time.

A’ Division Commander Clifton Hicken confirmed the deaths and also said that two guns were found at the scene.
