Police investigators in Region Five are probing an accident that has left two men dead and another man injured.
38-year Deocharran Dass and 31-year-old Bhickram Singh, both of Mahaicony lost their lives in the Saturday night accident along the Mahicony Branch road. The third man, 27-year-old Vishan Motie remains hospitalised.
The accident occurred around 10:30 pm.
A police report said the vehicle was being driven by Deocharran Dass at a fast rate when he failed to negotiate a turn in the road and instead drove straight into a canal.
The vehicle became submerged in the water and Motie managed to free himself from the wreckage and raised an alarm.
Persons living in the area rushed to the scene but found the other two men trapped and unconscious in the vehicle.
They were eventually pulled out and rushed to the hospital where doctors pronounced them dead.
The three men were seen earlier in the evening at a friend’s party drinking alcoholic beverages.
An investigation is underway.
