Two men killed in separate road accidents involving parked vehicles

Police on the East Bank of Demerara are probing an early morning accident that left 40-year-old, Troy Cordwell of Durban Street dead. The accident occurred on the McDoom Public Road around 1 o' clock this morning.

Two men died less than an hour a part in two different parts of the country in similar road accidents.

Police on the East Bank of Demerara are probing an early morning accident that left 40-year-old, Troy Cordwell of Durban Street dead. The accident occurred on the McDoom Public Road around 1 o’ clock this morning. 

Initial investigations have revealed that Cordwell was proceeding north along the western carriageway on his motor cycle CD 3069, allegedly at a fast rate.

While in the vicinity of Pestex Environmental Solutions, he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into motor vehicle GSS 1066 which was stationary on the said western carriageway.

He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Thirty minutes later on the Essequibo Coast, Police investigators were called out after 22-year-old, GPL technician, Ackeem James, slammed into a parked truck while riding his motor cycle.

Enquiries disclosed that he was proceeding south along the Reliance Public Road on motor cycle CH 2307, when he collided with the left side front fender of  the motor lorry, that was parked on the said side of the road facing north.

He was taken to the Suddie Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

At the time of the accident, the young man’s helmet was strapped to the handle bar of the motor cycle.

Both accidents are still under probe.
