Two more Coronavirus deaths recorded late Monday

The number of coronavirus-related deaths in the country continues to soar with 12 deaths recorded in the past five days. In total, 289 deaths have been recorded since the first case of the pandemic was found in Guyana a year ago.

Two more Coronavirus deaths recorded late Monday

Two more persons died from coronavirus late on Monday, taking the total number of persons who passed away yesterday to five.

According to a statement from the Health Ministry, the two latest victims were a 72-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man from Region Four.

The number of coronavirus-related deaths in the country continues to soar with 12 deaths recorded in the past five days. In total, 289 deaths have been recorded since the first case of the pandemic was found in Guyana a year ago.

This month of April has emerged as the deadliest month of the pandemic with 55 deaths recorded in 26 days.

The spread of the virus is continuing to spike in Guyana with more than 500 new cases recorded in the past four days.

While the Health Ministry continues to encourage citizens to follow the guidelines and protect themselves from the virus, it is still to say whether one of the new variants of the virus is now present in Guyana.

The Ministry appears to be focusing more on its vaccination drive.
