Two suspected bandits killed by Police in Diamond “shoot out”

Two men who the police say were bandits, were killed on Saturday night during an alleged shoot out with the Police at Diamond on the East Bank of Demerara.

According to Police sources, one of the men has been identifed as Paul Bascom who is also known as “Shine buck”. The other man is still to be identified.

The shooting took place just before 11pm.

The police claim that acting on information about a robbery in progress, the area was cordoned and a stand off began. The men reportedly opened fire on the policemen and the police returned fire, killing both men.

Just one gun was recovered from the scene and the police have not provided any details about the robbery that was allegedly being committed by the two men, other than saying that a miner was the target of the alleged robbery. “

“A .38 snub-nose revolver with two live rounds and two spent shells, along with one 9mm. round and two 7.62 x 39 rounds were recovered by the police”, the police statement said.

An investigation is underway.
