The Peoples Progressive Party last evening announced that two of its members of parliament who were recently charged in connection with a multi-million dollar fraud, have had their US visas revoked.

The two members, Dharamkumar Seeraj and Nigel Dharamlall, recently received letters from the Consular Section of the US Embassy Georgetown, informing them that their non-immigrant visas have been revoked.

According to the PPP, the letters also stated that the Consular Section is now in receipt of information, which it did not have at the time that the visas were granted.

The other persons charged in connection with the alleged $400 million fraud at the Guyana Rice Development Board also received letters informing them that their US visas have also been revoked.

The Opposition party said it intends to pursue the matter as far as possible and has reminded that all the persons charged have pleaded not guilty to those charges and therefore, are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The PPP said the affected persons have instructed their attorneys to write to the Consular Section of the US Embassy requesting the new information, which it has received about them.
