Vote Like A Boss campaign launches bus tour to get out the vote

Amid complains of a low voter turnout at so far at today’s Local Government Elections, the ‘Vote Like A Boss Bus Tour’ has taken to the streets of Georgetown seeking to boost voter turn out before the close of polls at 6:00pm.

The Vote Like A Boss Voter – Ink Up/Link Up- bus tour visited several popular locations around Georgetown where they used the opportunity to encourage persons to go out and Vote.

Later this afternoon the team of volunteers from the Guyana National Youth Council (GNYC) and Youth Challenge Guyana will be outside Marble Slab in the Stabroek area from 15:30 hrs to the close of polls. News Source caught up with the team around noon on Lamaha Street where GNYC Board Secretary Tricia Teekah offered some comments on the process so far.

She said the team was not 100% clear on voter turnout across the country but according to reports coming in from contacts, voting has been recorded 15 to 25 percent at some polling stations. The campaign also has a virtual platform which is it using to map voter turn out by allowing people can check in as they vote.

The results of that will be compiled and disseminated later today. Teekah said persons continue to check in for help to find polling stations and find out about candidates in their constituencies.

“A lot of people still do not know where they are voting and who they candidates are and we are trying to assist with that,” she added.
