Wanted Bulletin issued for former murder accused, “Zipper”, for cocaine in gas cylinder bust case

A wanted bulletin was today issued for businessman and former murder accused, Andre Gomes aka “Zipper”, as the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit continues its probe into the discovery of more than 20 pounds of cocaine in a cooking gas bottle.

The bust was made earlier this week at a Delph Avenue, Campbellville house.  The house was rented in Andre Gomes’ name and he reportedly has a relationship with the 51-year-old woman who lived at the house and was today sentenced to four years in jail for the same cocaine matter.

Gomes has not been seen since the bust, and CANU agents believe they may have enough information and evidence to link him to the cocaine discovery and file possible charges.

The cocaine was found stashed in nine packages in a cooking gas cylinder when CANU agents carried out a search.

The only two persons at home at the time, a 17-year-old national cricketer and his girlfriend, were arrested.  The girlfriend was released but charges were filed against the young cricketer. However, the charges were withdrawn after his grandmother pleaded guilty in court today to the cocaine charges.

The wanted man, Andre Gomes, was charged back in 2015 for the shooting death of a man outside the Palm Court  nightclub. However, the case against him was withdrawn, after the Director of Public Prosecutions advised that there was not enough evidence against the man to move ahead with the murder charge.

The charge was laid against him after a spent shell recovered from the scene, reportedly matched a gun that he owned. He was accused of opening fire outside the popular club at a driver who ran into his car.  A man who was standing a short distance away was struck with a bullet and died.
