The Guyana Police Force announced today that it is investigating another serious allegation made under the Sexual (Offences) Act against retired Assistant Police Commissioner Paul Slowe.
In 2021, Slowe was charged with three counts of sexual assault committed on a female. He has maintained his innocence and the matter remains before the local Courts.
But according to the Police, since the charges were filed three years ago against the former Chairman of the Police Service Commission, he has been exhibiting “criminal behaviour” on the social media with alleged malicious attacks on the alleged victim.
The Police claim that the alleged victim has had to endure more trauma and irreparable harm and such action is contrary to the spirit and true intention of the Sexual (Offences) Act.
The Police said the alleged utterances by Slowe on an alleged victim of a sexual offence represent a clear breach of the Sexual Offenses Act, and having received a report of the breach, the Guyana Police Force, has launched a new investigation.
Slowe, who hosts a weekly online talk show highlighting alleged acts of corruption and other wrongdoings within the Guyana Police Force, said the announced probe by the Police is meant to silence and intimidate him, but made it clear that he will not be silenced nor intimidated and will continue to speak out against the wrongs in the local Police Force and the Guyanese society.
