
A 17-year-old boy from the Sophia community is nursing a gunshot wound to his left thigh. He has told Police investigators that he was shot by two persons on a motorcycle early on Sunday morning, while he was on another motorcycle with a friend.
The teenager told investigators that the incident occurred at around 2:30 on Sunday morning along the A Field, Sophia Access Road.
According to a Police report, the 17-year-old was the pillion rider on a motorcycle that was being operated by his friend. He said while they were riding in their community, two men wearing masks appeared on another motorcycle and started to ride behind them.
The teen said while attempting to divert from the suspects, he heard two explosive shots and started to feel a burning sensation to one of his thighs.
He said his friend managed to escape the suspects and took him straight to the Georgetown Hospital, where it was confirmed that he had been shot. The Police were contacted and the youth filed a complaint.
The Police said it is investigating the matter.
