A 26-year-old soldier attached to the Guyana Defence Force was today charged and remanded to jail for the attempted murder of his girlfriend.

The accused, Philon Edwards, from West Coast Berbice, was not required to enter a plea to the indictable attempted murder charge this morning as he appeared at the Blairmont Magistrates’ Court

Edwards was arrested over the weekend after brutally attacking his 23-year-old girlfriend Litisha Reynolds.

The woman has been hospitalised with multiple chop wounds to her body.

The Court case will continue on the 12th December.
