The partly decomposed body of 26-year-old Akeem Bruce from Haslington on the East Coast of Demerara was found on Monday afternoon at the Cove and John foreshore at the edge of the water.
Bruce, who was a patient of the psychiatric clinic of the Georgetown Hospital, was reported missing by family members on the 14th December. He was last seen alive leaving the family’s home last Friday.
A statement from the Police indicated that the body was positively identified by his aunt, Monique James.
The Police said the man’s body was found dressed in a blue t-shirt and green three-quarter pants and there were no visible marks of violence on the body. Family members said the 26-year-old worked as a labourer.
A post-mortem examination is to be performed on the body to ascertain a cause of death.
