Boasting that Guyanese are now far better off than ever before, Attorney General Anil Nandlall believes that the current crop of potential candidates from the opposition parties for the upcoming elections will be no match for the People’s Progressive Party Civic, which he predicts will cruise to victory.
With elections set to take place later this year, Mr. Nandlall went into full campaign mode on his “Issues in the News” television programme, as he laid out a case for the re-election of the governing party.
“So, the Opposition politicians have a very uphill task, because in the face of this avalanche of success, this avalanche of policies from which people are benefitting from every walk of life from that backdrop, they have to do politics, when they don’t have anything on their own to which they can point,” Mr. Nandlall contended.
He said the Opposition parties are all reactionary.
He said Guyanese are now in a better position to afford more and live a more comfortable lifestyle, thanks to the PPP and its policies.
“Billions of dollars have gone back to the Guyanese people, and that accounts for what you see across this country, the spending explosion, the number of motor vehicles, the fancy clothes that you see people wearing, the type of jewellery you see they are wearing, more people are traveling, people are eating, people are dining, people are recreating in a manner than they have never done before,” Mr. Nandlall declared.

The Attorney General said over the last five years, the PPP has implemented policies and programmes with the people in mind, which he believes has resulted in the disposable income of Guyanese being increased.
“Those of you living in the United States you can see at the lifestyle here what we are drinking, wearing and driving and how sometimes it surpasses what you are enjoying in the United States. Guyanese are wearing the brand name clothes that you sometimes can’t afford in the United States and in Canada and you have witnessed firsthand that transformation, you know what I am speaking about,” the Attorney General said.
The Attorney General made it clear that the PPP is not scared of its challengers in the upcoming elections and will hit the campaign trail and defend its record.
