Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo has promised a ‘glorious’ second term in office, should the PPP Civic be re-elected at this year’s elections.
He told party supporters and members on Sunday that the ground work has already been set for transformation in every sector.
In a campaign style speech at Babu Jaan, Corentyne, Mr. Jagdeo served a menu of promises to the youths, senior citizens, public servants and other citizens.
“That every young person can apply for and get a house lot in the next term and in all regions, although we have a backlog in region 4, we will be able to move faster in the other regions, this year the President has given instructions for that to happen, you will get better paying jobs and world class education in the next term, the infrastructure that the President spoke of, you will be able to drive from all the way from Molseon Creek to the Airport on a four-lane road,” Jagdeo said as he laid out the list of promises.
He said a next term for the PPP will also see a more diversified economy, that will cater more for any fallout with the oil and gas sector.

The Vice President said the Government is also working out a formula for citizens to invest future cash-grants to get greater returns.
“The most pressing question the minds of the people, will there be cash grant after he wins the next elections and the answer is yes,” Mr. Jagdeo declared.
Jagdeo told party faithfuls that the PPP has kept all of the promises it made in 2020 and will do so in the next term.
“Every group of Guyanese, regardless of their race have seen that the PPP stands by its word, that our word is our bond and when we make these promises that President Ali spoke about, in the next term you better believe that it will be delivered that we will have the best health care anywhere in the world because the 12 hospitals that we are building now we will hire 8,000 people to make them functional right across this country,” Mr. Jagdeo said.
Further, the Vice President said the party will continue to empower small contractors in the region, boasting that more than 10,000 jobs have been returned to Region 6 since 2020.
