Eight months after he was caught in a crossfire and shot in the head as two men traded gunshots, 7-year-old Jeremiah Gustave succumbed to his injuries at his Charlestown home.
The lad was a patient at the Georgetown Hospital for just over five months. However, he was discharged into his family care earlier this year. Family members said he started to display breathing problems on Saturday and was later pronounced dead. The young boy never fully recovered.
It was on the night of the 9th July 2024 while Gustave was standing near to his mother at her food stand that two gunmen opened fire at each other, and the young boy was shot in the head. He was rushed to the Georgetown Hospital and remained there for the next five and a half months.

The two suspects, Odelle Garnette and Marlon Marcus were charged for attempted murder. The charge is likely to be upgraded to murder with the passing of the young boy.
The young boy’s bother, Keisha Gustave, has been pressing for justice in the matter. She said her son was cheerful and playful and loved school.
During their initial investigations, a number of spent shells were recovered from the scene along Smyth Street in Charlestown.
